Palestra (em inglês)
12 de Setembro, 18h30-21h30
Parque dos Poetas, Oeiras
Climate change is an increasingly hot topic. Today, 1 in 8 species are on the brink of extinction. Between 1/3 and 1/2 of all global topsoil is degraded. 300kg of plastic is entering the ocean every single second. We’re experiencing the fastest warming of the last 65 million years on record, and probably closer to 252 million years, since an extinction event called the Great Dying permanently wiped out 96% of all species on earth. The world is not doing anywhere near enough to stop the ongoing ecological disaster. Why is this happening, and what can be done?
Matthew Shribman of big-hitting YouTube channel “Science in the Bath” is an irresistibly enthused, highly acclaimed University of Oxford-educated scientist, tutor and presenter on a mission to make science as accessible as oxygen. His gripping and relentlessly fun talks use clear and simple language in a unique style and are relevant to all human beings with an interest in our planet and the species (including us) that rely on it.
The weather has become so much more than small talk. We are the first generation to be feeling the effects of climate change, and very possibly the last generation that can do anything about it. Join us to find out how you can easily make an enormous difference.
